FRIT 7331 Strategic Library Management Plan
The strategic library management plan took most of the semester to put together. We used one of our colleague's school since he had a good working relationship with the Media Specialist there. We bumped heads a little but were able to put together a pretty solid piece of work. Being able to do a project like this was really eye opening as it had to be very detailed. I hope that I will be able to use the knowledge I learned from this collaborative project in the future to assess my own learning commons.
Task 7 - Grant Application
The program management and administration of the school library media program is a vital part of the media specialist’s job. In order for the media program to be effective and useful to the patrons it serves, it must be run efficiently, and it is the media specialist’s job to ensure that this is accomplished. This includes being able to look for grants that will help his/her school as well as increase collaborative efforts with teachers on CCGPS. In this grant I was able to discuss with third through fifth-grade math teachers what would help them drive home certain standards they were teaching. We decided that this grant for "Teaching Mathematics through Coding" would be a wise idea. I submitted it and was successful in receiving the grant on my first try.

Task 8 - Program Evaluation Rubric
During this practicum, I was able to demonstrate my ability evaluate a Library Media Center Program. I was able to use my mentor's school since she has bee a media specialist for many years. I able to complete an evaluation of her media center program based on the GA DOE 2016 Library Media Program Evaluation Rubric. I summarized the results of this evaluation in a memo to the principal and identified an action plan to move each area of the media center program rated as basic up to proficient. I also worked with the media specialist to develop an action plan to move one area of the media center program from proficient to exemplary.

Activities Report - Checklist Item #2
Checklist item #2 was to produce a monthly report for administration outlining the activities of the learning commons. I liked the idea of doing an infographic for this monthly report. I felt this would be a good way to show the activities accomplished but also make it less cumbersome for admin to have to read. I think I like this idea so well, I will be making one from now on to present to my admin but also list it on our Learning Commons website so all can see what we have going on. I think this will help me be more reflective of what is going on in the LC but also a way to see trends.
